Online Public Involvement: AL-279 Improvements

Project Overview

Location: Scottsboro (Jackson County)

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is proposing to resurface AL-279 from AL-35/Tupelo Pike to AL-2 (US-72) in the City of Scottsboro, Jackson County. The proposed project also includes a road diet, which will reduce the total number of lanes along this section of AL-279. Existing AL-279 is a five-lane facility with four (4) travel lanes and a center-turn lane. The roadway will be reconfigured to a three-lane facility with two (2) travel lanes and a center-turn lane. The new travel lanes will be wider than the existing lanes, bringing the roadway up to current standards. More information about road diets can be found in the 'Downloads' section below.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
