In-Person and Online Public Involvement: Intersection Improvements at US-82 (McFarland Boulevard) and US-43

Project Overview

Location: Northport (Tuscaloosa County)

The proposed project is located at the intersection of AL-6 (US-82; McFarland Blvd) and AL-13 (US-43) in Northport, Alabama located in Tuscaloosa County. This project will add additional turn lanes at the signalized intersection of US-82 and US-43 as well as an additional through-lane on US-43 Northbound. Access management in the area of the intersection will also be included. Currently, more than 59,000 vehicles use this intersection per day. This project is expected to relieve traffic congestion at the intersection of US-82 and US-43 during the morning and afternoon peak hours.

To reduce the impact on traffic during construction, two lanes will remain open in each direction from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., while the left turn lanes on US-43 and Main Avenue will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Right of way will be required for the proposed project. Additional information about right of way acquisition can be found in the ROW section below.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
