Online and In Person Public Involvement: AL-216 Diverging Diamond Interchange, Exit 100 on I-59/20

Project Overview

Location: Lake View/Woodstock/McCalla (Tuscaloosa County)

The proposed project is located on AL-216 over I-59/20 at Exit 100 near Lake View, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The project proposes to replace the existing bridge over the interstate and add additional lanes from Youngblood Parkway to the I-59 northbound ramp, on the east side of the interchange. The project will reconfigure the interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). This will allow for better sight distance for left turning movements and reduced delays for through traffic utilizing the interchange.

Construction of the proposed project will be done in phases and the road will remain open during construction. A few short nightime or weekend closures may be necessary, but motorists will be notified in advance and closures will be minimal.

Right of way will be required for the proposed project. Additional information about right of way aquisition can be found in the ROW Section below.
The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
