Online Public Involvement: Historic Bryce Cemetery Section 106 Consultation

Project Overview

Location: Tuscaloosa (Tuscaloosa County)

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in cooperation with the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) are updating environmental studies for proposed additional lanes, access management, and bicycle/pedestrian improvements along AL-6 (US-82/McFarland Blvd) from west of Rose Boulevard to just east of Jug Factory Road, in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.

A Phase I Cultural Resource Survey located burials associated with the Historic Bryce Cemetery within existing ALDOT right-of-way in the vicinity of the McFarland Boulevard and Jack Warner Parkway intersection. A Section 106 Consultation/Public Involvement meeting has been scheduled to discuss impacts associated with the burials.

The purpose of this meeting is to engage consulting parties and interested stakeholders to participate in, offer comment, and provide feedback to resolve Section 106 impacts associated with proposed project. The meeting will also inform individuals and organizations as to the project status and current design. ALDOT encourages any recommendations and/or suggestions you may have in order to properly consider alternatives in the Section 106/NEPA decision-making process.
