Online Public Involvement: Selma Riverfront Boardwalk/Section 106

Project Overview

Location: Selma (Dallas County)

Selma, Alabama located in Dallas County is best known for its Selma to Montgomery Marches, “Bloody Sunday” Voting Rights Movement, and is the largest contiguous historic district in the State of Alabama.
The City of Selma, in conjunction with the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is studying a proposal to construct a boardwalk and boat ramp along the Alabama River, running parallel to Water Avenue and Washington Street and a proposed overlook pier that will connect the existing Historic Riverfront development to a proposed floating dock for the purpose of connecting water-based traffic to the Historic Downtown Selma, Alabama.
This project will provide recreational path and scenic overlook for pedestrians as well as provide a landing for aquatic traffic near Selma’s downtown commercial area.
