The proposed project is located at the intersection of AL-6 (US-82) and AL-1 (US-431) near the City of Eufaula in Barbour County.The purpose of this project is to facilitate traffic along the US-82 and US-431 corridor, improve safety, and to facilitate the bridge construction over Chewalla Creek by moving the traffic flow north.The existing roadway is 24 feet wide with 2 foot shoulders.The new roadway will be 24 feet wide with 8 foot shoulders, 2 foot paved shoulders. The existing US-82 intersects with US-431 at a 45-degree angle. The realignment of US-82 will result in an intersection angle of 90 degrees.The project begins near the intersection of US-82 and US-431 and ends approximately 4500 feet north on US-431. No detours will be needed for this project.
