In-Person and Online Public Involvement: Ramp Modifications on I20 at Exit 130A and 130B

Project Overview

Location: Birmingham (Jefferson County)

The proposed project includes resurfacing and maintenance work on US-11(1st Avenue North) from 25th Street North to 83rd Street North as well as permanently closing the ramp on I-20 at Exit 130B in Jefferson County, Alabama. Two alternatives are being presented for your consideration: Alternative A is to close the ramp at Exit 130B and for travelers to utilize the existing alternative routes in the area. A map of the routes available can be found in the Project Maps section. Alternative B will still permanently close the ramp at Exit 130B but will include modifications to the ramp at Exit 130A for access to 1st Avenue North. Traffic simulations are available in the Traffic Simulation section to show the existing roadway and Alternative B's roadway configuration.
The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.

INVOLVEMENT MEETING

State of Alabama Department of Transportation will hold a Public Involvement Meeting on Project No. NH-0007(). This informal meeting will be held as follows:

Project Presentation Video

The Alabama Department of Transportation received and reviewed comments regarding the proposal to permanently close the I-20 eastbound exit ramp (130B) to 1st Avenue North proposed under Project IM-I020(365). The proposed ramp closure was removed from the planned construction project to allow for the thorough review of comments and additional environmental studies in the area. The new project proposed includes ALDOT's efforts to address the comments and concerns expressed from the earlier proposal.
