Online Public Involvement: Resurfacing and Ramp Closure on I-20

Online Public Involvement: IM-I020(365) Improvements on I-20

Project Overview

Location: Birmingham (Jefferson County)

The proposed project will include resurfacing the project corridor, approximately 10 miles along I-20 between Exit 130 and Exit 140. Based on current traffic movements, the proposal is to permanently close the I-20 Eastbound Exit Ramp 130B to 1st Avenue north. The current striping on I-20 Eastbound will be extended for approximately 1250 feet to accommodate the merging traffic onto I-20 Eastbound. Construction of the proposed project is to be completed under normal traffic operations with intermittent lane closures. The ramp at Exit 130B is proposed for permanent closure with barricades.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
