In-Person and Online Public Involvement: Roundabout at AL-167 and AL-87

Online Public Involvement for HSIP-0167(514)

Project Overview

Location: Troy, AL (Pike County)

ALDOT is proposing to improve the intersection of AL-167 and AL-87 in the Spring Hill community south of Troy AL. There are several issues. The traffic backs up on AL-87 during peak hours causing delays. The existing intersection is extremely confusing, Travelers on AL-167 often exceed the posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour making it difficult for those on AL-87 to turn onto AL-167. Also, the sight distance is reduced because of the vertical curve (hill) on AL-167 making it difficult to see vehicles approaching the intersection.

The proposed improvements will alleviate congestion occurring during peak hours, reduce motorist confusion, improve sight distance of the intersection, and maintain an optimum speed throughout the intersection.

Minimal additional Right-of-way is required for this project construction.
